Game Theory and Product Development

Read more about how our team is learning about elements of game theory to provide players of the educational card game we are currently working on with a perfect game experience.


We never fully recognized the complexity of the games we play everyday until we decided to create one ourselves. Although we expected graphic design to be a challenge in the creation of our educational card game (which is soon to be released), the intricacies of the gameplay hadn't caused us issue until now.

Together with our Marketing Director, Freddie Wollen, EVOL's Director of Design has been investigating what makes the card games we love successful. Following the creation of our first two prototypes, we quickly realized that the ratio of colors in particular suits significantly impacted the game, and he has set out to see why that is, to then use that information to perfect the ratios within our own game.

Freddie has investigated this for a number of everyday brand and non-brand card games, including UNO, TopTrumps, Blackjack and Cheat. He has kindly offered to share some of his sources of information in the links below:
